Oisin Retires

February 25, 2013

Oisin McConville has decided to hang up his boots and retire from playing Gaelic football at the age of 37.

Oisin played senior football for Rangers for 20 years and his superb list of achievements with Rangers includes 16 Armagh SFC titles, 10 Ulster Club crowns and six All-Ireland Club successes (1997, 1999, 2000, 2007, 2011 and 2012).

The prolific marksman also helped Armagh win their only Sam Maguire Cup to date back in 2002, and was an Ulster SFC winner on seven occasions. A two-time All-Star, he retired from inter-county football after the Orchard men’s 2008 season.

Due to print deadlines we will feature a more fitting tribute to a true sporting legend in next week’s issue of the Examiner. If any of our readers would like to make a contribution in the way of letters, poems, or simple thanks for the memories please do so before Thursday, Feb 28.
