The Gospel of Christ to the people of Ireland!

April 8, 2013

‘Ireland Run for Christ’ is an initiative seeking to expose many people on the Island of Ireland to the amazing Good News of Jesus Christ; His death, resurrection and ascension; and what it means for their own lives. The initiative was first conceived in November 2010. There is of course the small matter of the running itself. Alastair Donaldson is an enthusiastic and hopeful, if somewhat ordinary, runner and he has taken part in 6 marathons in the last 7 years. He hopes to be able to interest a number of friends and colleagues to accompany him on this venture with them running whole marathons or just a few miles. As part of the process, ‘Crosslinks’ who are partnering the team on this venture hope to be able to partner with a number of churches across the Island of Ireland whose passion like theirs is to see more people of every persuasion come into a life-saving faith with Jesus Christ.

Consisting of 1,298 miles at approximately 26 miles /day from Crossmaglen, Northern Ireland (Alastair’s hometown) around the perimeter of Ireland and back again to Crossmaglen some 8 weeks and 3 days later. This will commence 1st July 2013 and finish (hopefully) the 29th August 2013. Spurred on by different people accompanying them as well as many well-wishers in the different towns and villages, this ambitious feat will be achieved.

Before embarking on the rigorous training schedule in preparation for this massive challenge, Alastair had never run more than 2 marathons in a year! So this is going to be a daunting yet awesome adventure. That being said, Ireland North and South is much in need of hearing the Gospel of Christ afresh in this 21st Century. With that in mind the pain and discomfort from running so many miles will be well worth it.

Alastair wishes to thank you in advance for your support! He’s looking forward to running with, meeting and sharing the Gospel with his fellow Irishmen and women not to mention the numerous different nationalities that so happen to be living within Ireland from all around the world. He will be doing this run during his summer vacation from theological college in Dublin and so he needs to make it back for his second year.
