Sacred Heart GS Student is UK Under 21 Show Jumping Champion!

April 15, 2013

Casey Webb, a GCSE student in Sacred Heart Grammar School, was the winner of the Under 21 UK Winter Show Jumping Final in Warwickshire on Saturday 6th April. This is a significant achievement for the 16 year old local girl from Tamnaghbane Road, Killeavy. It is the culmination of years of hard work and commitment to her sport. Casey first began riding ponies when she was 3 years old and has been involved in competitive show jumping for the past 8 years. She travelled to the UK Final as part of the Iveagh Branch of the Pony Club and lifted the prestigious top prize to become the UK Under 21 champion, riding a horse called Bee. As well as receiving a trophy, Casey was presented with the winner’s sash and received rugs, vouchers and sporting equipment for herself and her horse. Casey is trained by Steven and Trevor Smith from Gilford who are well known in the show jumping and ‘three-day event’ circles. Steven was there to support Casey at the final and was very pleased and proud to see his young pupil’s outstanding achievement! Casey is pictured riding Bee in the UK final.
