eBay’s European hub opens in Dundalk

April 29, 2013

Online auction and retail giant eBay has opened its new European operations centre in Dundalk.

Ten years on from when the company opened its first customer service centre in Ireland, the Dundalk facility will provide support for customers of eBay and its payment service subsidiary, PayPal, across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

eBay and PayPal currently employ nearly 2,500 people in Ireland.  Last year PayPal announced it would create 1,000 jobs at a new international operations centre in Dundalk, while in February, eBay said it would add 450 more.  Since then the companies have filled nearly a third of the vacancies, with the remainder to be in place by 2015.

The jobs are in areas such as customer support, operations, finance, sales and compliance and many require proficiency in foreign languages.
