Culloville welcomes Casey’s Spar

June 17, 2013

Last Friday morning saw the official opening of the all new Culloville Spar and forecourt under the new ownership of brothers Brian and Peter Casey.

Around 100 family, friends, well-wishers and eager shoppers turned up to see local Special Olympics hero, Aidan O’Donnell take to the red carpet and cut the ribbon to officially welcome all to the completely refurbished 3,200 square foot premises.

The totally revamped shop was wholeheartedly welcomed by the local community who had sorely missed the convenience of a local shop on their doorstep.

The Casey brothers, along with Manager Joanne Quinn, a shop staff of 25 and a whole team including local contractors and shopfitters have created a beautiful, spacious store and forecourt which promises to cater for all household and grocery needs.

Gary Thompson of Martin’s Food Equipment, who supplied all the deli equipment for the new store, welcomed those gathered to the official opening and took time to thank the army of people who had helped the ambitious renovation come to fruition. He commended the hard work of the new Spar staff in the months leading up to the opening and made particular mention of the dedication and “good humour” of Spar Manager, Joanne Quinn who he said was instrumental in preparing the new store for its grand opening.

The Examiner spoke to Joanne Quinn on the day to find out how she felt about finally making it to opening morning.

Joanne, who previously managed the Casey’s brothers Spar shop in Belfast, told us she is delighted to be on board for the new Culloville Spar and especially pleased to be giving the local people such a fantastic new store back in the heart of their community.  She too had high praise for everyone involved in redeveloping the shop floor and forecourt and paid tribute to the hundreds of candidates who had applied for the 25 jobs within the store.

She was keen to highlight the extensive range of products and services in-store, which include a new Butchery providing locally sourced meat and poultry products and a top of the range kitchen for preparing food for the traditional Deli Counter and all new Hot Food Counter.  The Hot Food counter promises to be a huge hit for hungry motorists topping up their tanks on the new forecourt and will prove popular with locals too with late night opening for a convenient take away option.

Other tempting treats available include the Hot Coffee Bar which will provide fresh ‘bean to coffee’ beverages daily alongside the freshly baked goods on offer. Kids will love the delicious new ice cream bar and with an extensive grocery and household range, Lotto machine and forthcoming Paypoint facility the Culloville Spar really is a one-stop-shop.

Outside, the forecourt boasts a range of top quality solid fuels and petrol and diesel pumps too.

So, for everything from hot food and groceries to topping up your tank or heating your home, the brand new Casey’s Spar has it all under one roof.
