Local dancers hot foot to China

July 8, 2013

Talented dancers Shane McKeever from Crossmaglen and Laura Carville from Middletown will be travelling to the Kaohsiung in China this September to represent Ireland in the World DanceSport Games.

Shane and Laura will be carrying the Irish Flag alongside the top Ballroom and Latin dancers from all over the World. The pair, who will compete separately in the Line Dance section, are the only dancers from Ireland competing in the World DanceSport Games.

Both dancers scooped medals in the qualifying World Country and Line DanceSport Federation (WCLDSF) Games in Nashville in January this year, with Shane winning Gold and Laura winning a Silver medal.

Complete TV coverage of the World DanceSport Federation World Games ensures millions will see Shane and Laura do Ireland proud.

With hopes riding high for the dancing duo, the Irish Country and Line DanceSport Federation (ICLDSF) are actively seeking sponsorship for Shane and Laura.

The young dancers have been practising their art from a very early age and hold numerous world titles between them.

Shane has just completed his first year of the level 5 HND in Performing Arts and Dance at Belfast Metropolitan College and in his spare time he is very much in demand teaching dance all over Northern Ireland. Laura has also completed her Level 5 HND in Performing Arts Dance at Belfast Metropolitan College and has been dancing since the age of 6, where she became hooked on line dancing at her local class.

In 15 years she has won several International and National awards and in 2011 she became the first ever Irish Female to qualify for the UCWDC (United Country Western Dance Council) Superstars division and the WDM (World Dance Masters) Allstars division, both of which are the top competitive Line-Dance divisions in the World.

The talents and achievements of the young pair have now brought them to China where they hope to scoop another top award to add to their impressive collections.
