The search is on for 2009’s Bonniest Baby

February 24, 2009

Calling all proud parents, this week The Examiner launches its Bonny Baby Competition 2009.

This contest has proven to be extremely popular and successful in the past and indeed attracted more than 90 entries and almost 2,500 votes when it was last conducted in 2007.  With a top prize of a complimentary family portrait and valuable gift vouchers courtesy of the sponsors, this free-to-enter competition will, no doubt, continue to enjoy popularity on the same scale this year.

Along with The Examiner and Nikki McKenna Photography, the competition is sponsored by The Cross Square Hotel; SuperValu, Crossmaglen and Country Toy Store, Forkhill.  These sponsors are proud to be associated with the contest that has always proven to be a favourite with Examiner readers and look forward to meeting the winners in April.

Sponsoring the event for the first time this year is the Country Toy Store in Forkhill.  Situated conveniently out of town on the Carrickasticken Road, this store has enjoyed unrivalled success since opening its doors just a few months ago.  Owned and operated by husband and wife team, Sharon and John Eveson, it stocks all the latest and most popular toys and games. Call 02830 888808 for more information.

The Cross Square Hotel makes its debut as a sponsor and is proud to be associated with this year’s competition.  The hotel is now taking bookings for special occasion meals, such as Confirmation and First Communion.  Current special offers include Wednesday or Friday night meal for two plus a bottle of wine, £35 per couple.  Tel 028 30860505 or email info@crosssquarehotel.com.

SuperValu in Crossmaglen has a long and proud history of sponsoring local events and this is the second year the store has sponsored this Bonny Baby competition.  Management and staff at the store are actively involved in many community-led projects and are always to the fore in promoting customer service and satisfaction.

Competition Format

The competition, which feature three categories: 0-9 months, 10-18 months and 19-36 months, begins in earnest this Wednesday 25th February from when proud parents can contact Nikki McKenna Photography and schedule a studio appointment to have their child’s photograph taken.  Entries will be accepted for four weeks until Tuesday 24th March.  Photographs will be published weekly in The Examiner and readers are invited to vote for their favourite.

Voting will continue until Thursday 2nd April when it closes at 5.00pm – no further votes will be accepted after this date.  The winners will be chosen by an independent judging panel and will be announced in Monday 6th April’s edition of The Examiner.

So if you think your child’s the cutest in the country, get yourself and your baby down to Nikki McKenna Photography and help us find the bonniest baby of 2009!
