The sixth Run/Walk for Autism another huge success

October 21, 2013

The Committee of HAND wish to extend their most sincere gratitude to everyone who supported the annual Run/Walk for Autism, which took place on Saturday 5th October 2013. To all who volunteered their help in numerous ways – stewarding, registration, distributing water, directing traffic, putting up signs, provision of buses and bus drivers, serving up refreshments, etc. – the list is endless.  We also thank all the participants and the atmosphere they help to create, which makes it most enjoyable for all involved: YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!  We are also greatly indebted to Newry & Mourne District Council, The PSNI Newtownhamilton, Fire and Rescue Newtownhamilton, the local schools, St Michael’s Football Club, Lissummon Community Centre, to those who donated refreshments and to all our sponsors.  It is this fantastic generosity that makes it possible and worthwhile organising this very enjoyable and successful fundraiser.  There are many individuals whom we would love to mention by name, but the list would be too long.  The money that this event raises each year has enabled us to provide much support to organisations, groups and schools etc., in the area and this has made a difference to the lives of many people living with autism.   If anyone wishes to know more about the projects we have undertaken to date, you can go to our website at or follow us on facebook .  Again,  many, many thanks to everyone.
