The current Vice Principal of St. Paul’s High School in Bessbrook, Jarlath Burns, has been appointed the new Principal of the school, following Oliver Mooney’s upcoming retirement in December.

The former Armagh GAA captain and contributor to BBC Northern Ireland GAA coverage took to Twitter at the weekend to convey his delight at his new role.

He said he was “delighted and honoured to have been appointed new principal of the best school in Ireland after the tenure of a remarkable man, Mr Mooney.”

Burns is expected to begin his new role in January 2014 after the highly revered Mr Mooney steps down in December.
