Camlough illuminations praised

December 9, 2013

The switching-on of Christmas lights in Camlough this week will represent a new pinnacle for the village, marking an investment of £30,000 towards the festive illuminations.

Prompted by a request from local Councillor Turlough Murphy, Newry and Mourne District Council has provided the funds to decorate the village for Christmas.

Commenting, Councillor Murphy said: “I put the suggestion to our Council officers some time back about the possibility of placing lights in the trees around the village, which will not only brighten Camlough for Christmas, but will look tremendously well throughout the year.

“We have always been respected as a rural centre that has shown great initiative in decorating our village for Christmas and I am confident that these new lights and fittings will further instill pride in our community,” he added.

The switch-on of the Christmas tree and lights in Camlough will take place this Friday 13th December at 7.00pm.
