Former bank manager admits fraud

A former bank manager of First Trust in Newry has pleaded guilty to fraud during a court appearance in Belfast’s Crown Court on Friday.

Peter Creegan (47), from Limekiln Road, Newry, along with his co-accused Solicitor Peter Brassil (51) from Chancellors’ Road, Newry and financial advisor Damien Mallon (56) from Armagh, admitted their guilt in an alleged £7 million mortgage fraud and money laundering conspiracy.

The trio entered guilty pleas to an original 46 counts and a number of new charges added to the bill of indictment.

The men were released on continuing bail and are to return to the court on January 31st.
