Newtownhamilton Rural Community Association

January 6, 2014

The Newtownhamilton Rural Community Association members would like to wish the local community a very happy new year for 2014.  A great year is on the horizon for the local town of Newtownhamilton and surrounding areas, as the completion of the new build which is situated on the Dundalk road, is the end of June 2014!  The building started its life as a replacement for the “Old Youth Club” as it is locally known as.  Due to recession and financial difficulties, the development of the building came to a stop, until the creation of the Rural Community Association group.  This group obtained a large grant of £246,000 from SOAR.  Work on the building has been very steady in recent months and we are very fortunate to have very dedicated and generous supporters and volunteers, who have been working tirelessly.  Cavity wall insulation has been put in place, the staircase has been concreted to the lower floor and all the first fix joinery has been put into place.  External drainage and a new wall also have been work in progress in recent weeks.

The Rural Community Association would like to take this opportunity to invite all members of the local community and surrounding areas to come to our open day on Saturday 11th January at 2 o’clock until 4 o’clock.  Come and have a look at the excellent work that has already been done and what else needs doing.  Maybe you can provide skills we need to help drive this new community build to the finish line in June.  You can keep up to date with the progress by searching for  us on Facebook at  Newtownhamilton Rural Community Association.
