St Joseph’s Primary School marks its 40th Anniversary

April 7, 2014

1973/74 – 2013/14

St Joseph’s PS Bessbrook invite you to take a trip down memory lane and join their upcoming celebrations to mark the school’s 40th Anniversary.  A series of events will be held over the coming months to mark this important milestone in the school’s history.

Celebrations will be officially launched with a Charity Balloon Release by all pupils on Wednesday 9th April with proceeds going to Autism NI. Keep your eyes on the skies as there will be prizes for the first 3 Balloons found!

Key events include an Open Week 2nd – 6th June where parents, past pupils, staff and community members will be invited to view exhibitions, take a tour of the school, join a Mass of Celebration and evening reception as well as a night of music and entertainment in Carrickcruppen Social Club on Friday 6th June.

Opened in 1973/74, St Joseph’s replaced the old Convent Primary School at the top of the Convent Hill and St Malachy’s Boys’ Primary School on the Chapel Road in Bessbrook and has seen 3 generations of pupils pass through the gates. The organising committee is asking parents, past pupils and staff to contribute to exhibitions with old photos, stories and memories from over the years.
