Public Open Day to celebrate forty years of fire-fighting

April 21, 2014

A special event to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of a Fire Station in Crossmaglen, and to honour those whose hard work and dedication saw it happen, will take place this weekend in the town.

A Public Open Day will be held in Crossmaglen Fire Station this Saturday 26th April from 11.00am until 3.00pm.

The event will provide an opportunity for the public to find out about life at the local fire station and the work that retained firefighters carry out to protect the community.

It will also recognize those who campaigned tirelessly for almost 20 years to have the station established in the town and whose dream was realized when the facility opened on 7th April 1993.

There will be plenty of activities on the day for everyone to enjoy, including a tour of the Fire Station, learning about its history, a look around the Fire Appliances and displays of Firefighter skills using the latest fire and rescue equipment.

Firefighters will be on hand to answer any questions relating to fire safety and will distribute important information to help keep you and your family safe.

With something for everyone, all individuals, families and community groups are welcome to attend.
