Six-year-old seriously injured in hit-and-run

The six-year-old victim of a hit-and-run crash that occurred in Newry at the weekend is in a serious condition in a Belfast hospital, police have said.
The driver left the scene of the crash and is still being sought.
The incident occurred on Chapel Street in Newry around 3.15pm on Saturday afternoon.  It’s believed the vehicle involved may have been a black or dark-coloured Ford Focus, which was seen making off along Chapel Street after the accident.
The injured child was rushed to Daisy Hill Hospital before later being transferred to the Royal Hospital in Belfast.  He remains in a serious condition, although police have said they do not believe his injuries to be life-threatening.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information in relation to it is asked to contact police on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
