Sinn Féin progress Crossmaglen Day Care Centre Campaign

June 2, 2014

Sinn Féin representatives Conor Murphy, Megan Fearon and Terry Hearty met with a representative of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust on Friday 30th May to progress the campaign for a purpose built facility for people with disabilities in south Armagh.

After the meeting Megan Fearon MLA made the following comments; “This is the latest in a series of meetings on this issue.  In April we met with Health Minister Edwin Poots who told us that his department supported the proposal.

“Today we have had further positive news as we have received confirmation from the Southern Trust that Crossmaglen Day Care Centre has received support from the decision making Local Commissioning Group.

“In addition revenue has been approved for the project and the final business case is due to be submitted to the Department of Health next week for capital costs approval.”

Ms Fearon concluded by voicing her delight that at long last people with disabilities will have access to adequate premises within south Armagh.

“At last it seems that this project is coming to fruition.  I am delighted to have played a part in what has been a long and difficult campaign and I hope that very soon all of the pieces of this jigsaw come together and the new centre is built.”
