Old Mac Donald has a Safe Farm

June 16, 2014

According to the Health and Safety Executive young children are more likely to suffer accidents on the Farm, many of which can be very serious. In light of this Farm Safety is an important issue for anyone working with children and families.  Friday 6th June saw a successful Farm Safety Event for families in Cullyhanna; ‘Old Mac Donald has a Safe Farm’.   The event which was organised by Sure Start South Armagh was well attended by local families, nurseries and schools as well as community groups.  Northern Ireland Fire Service took time to bring the Fire Engine and delighted the children with a demonstration with the fire hose and fire engine.

The event contained a puppet show, arts and crafts, play and storytelling highlighting key farm safety messages for children as we move into the summer months and child safety week which runs from 23rd to 29th June 2014.  Sure Start South Armagh would like to thank the Northern Ireland Fire Service and all those who made the morning such a success.
