Ashfield Golf Club welcomes award winning Head Chef

Award winning chef Keith Campbell has taken over the reigns of the kitchen at the popular Ashfield Golf Club Restaurant.

Aged just 21, Keith has spent 3 years perfecting his culinary skills in Newry’s Southern Regional College and is now embarking on his 4th year in addition to taking the helm of the busy golf club restaurant.

The challenge should be as easy as pie for the accomplished chef who, despite his youth, has a breadth of experience behind him, most notably as the former Second Chef in Tandragee Golf Club where he gained many years valuable experience, which he intends to bring to the table at Ashfield.

Keith has appointed Second Chef Dudley Pankhurst at his side to form a winning team at Ashfield who have both won a number of accolades for their trade, including 2nd and 3rd placements respectively in the prestigious IFEX Culinary Arts competition in Belfast, while Dudley is also a Knorr Young Chef of the Year finalist.

Keith remains undaunted at taking on the mantle of Head Chef at such a young age.  His skills and experience speak for themselves so the young chef is positively relishing the challenge ahead,

“I’m extremely excited about the challenge ahead and looking forward to putting my own stamp on the top quality delicious food we will serve to the clientele of Ashfield Golf Club,” Keith told The Examiner.

“We aim to provide classical food with a twist, all freshly homemade on the premises from locally sourced produce.  Award winning butcher Graham Parks is supplying all our beef and meat and his sterling reputation for top quality produce means customers can rest assured they will dine on only the best food from a traditional menu with a bit of an edge to it,” he added.

Keith hopes the Friday night Steak menu will continue to attract diners – at just £40 per couple for 2 starters, 2 10oz steaks, 2 sauces. 2 sides and 2 glasses of wine!

In addition to a sumptuous A La Carte menu served throughout the week, Sundays at Ashfield will also feature a special Sunday Dinner set menu from 12pm to 3.30pm.

A delicious Bar Menu is also available in the Lounge every Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4.30pm.

Bookings are also being taken in the 80 seater restaurant and lounge for all types of special occasions, from christenings to birthdays and many more.  The talented duo will serve up a mouth watering array of dishes and desserts to suit all tastes at very reasonable rates.
