Launch of “Docker” book

July 7, 2014

A new book was launched last week in Newry Library as part of the “Newry Docker” project in the city. The book, entitled “Newry:Water, Ships and Town” was written by a mix of local people and historians and edited by Anthony Russell. The book tells of a bygone era when Newry had commercial port status and represents the third phase of the docker project brought about in partnership between Newry Maritime Association and Drumalane/Quayside Community Association.
The Docker sculpture was unveiled on April 26th this year followed by an ebook launch for local schools on 2nd June.
Copies of the book were distributed at the launch and those in attendance had an opportunity to view a specially created Newry Maritime Association exhibition.
