All-Ireland Champion Makes his debut at The Welcome Inn, Forkhill

July 21, 2014

We’ve had a varied summer programme so far this year, with appearances from Cuig, Martha Guiney and Fiachra Meek, who all produced and provided the crowd with different styles of Irish Traditional Music.  However, Tuesday 29th brings another amazing talent to The Ring of Gullion CCE. Conor Mallon is a coveted uillean piper who hails from Keady and who has been awarded multiple titles throughout his time playing the Uilleann Pipes including Senior County, Ulster and All-Ireland Champion on the Uilleann Pipes in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2013. Conor has been awarded with many different scholarships and awards; he was been awarded with a Piping Scholarship by the Na Píobairí Uilleann Dublin in 2008, and was the First recipient of the Mark Donnelly Bursary Uilleann Piping Award in 2010. As well as performing in many festivals in Ireland, Conor has also been given the opportunity to perform overseas at festivals in Europe and the USA including the Piping Live in Glasgow and the Milwaukee Irish Fest, Chicago this summer. With multiple radio and TV appearances, Tuesday 29th July is a date you’d want to put in your diary.

The guest artists appear every other week, but our regular Tuesday night sessions continue every Tuesday night from 9:30pm with music from our excellent young branch musicians and also are regular resident musicians, who we are so indebted to for their time and their music.  As always, we’d like to thank the Welcome Inn, Forkhill for their continuous hospitality. So come along and Enjoy the Music and the Craic!
