‘Love Your Local Market 2014’

August 11, 2014

What better way to spend your bank holiday weekend than enjoying FREE family fun at ‘Shambles Day’ on Saturday 23rd August 2014 from 1pm-4pm at The Shambles Yard, Armagh. ‘Shambles Day’ is a fun filled celebration of The Shambles Yard with its rich market history in the heart of the community.

Stroll through the stalls of the Shambles Variety Market sampling the wonderful produce and pick up some beautiful gifts and crafts along the way. Be inspired by our traditional craftsmen showcasing their skills in wood and stone carving and blacksmithing.

Children can enjoy the craft marquee where they will be able to get arty making pieces to take home from colourful felt images to crazy farm animals. Or take a trip on the safari train, try your luck against the assault course or visit the petting farm and get close to the animals.

The stage will come alive with an energetic performance from local dance group Spot Light performing dances and songs from their up and coming play Cinderella. There will also be a culinary master class in cooking by renowned chef Dean Coppard, of Uluru restaurant, Armagh, as he tries to beat the clock in our Ready, Steady, Cook challenge. You will be mesmerised by the dazzling tricks of magician Caolan McBride and can dance the afternoon away to the highly acclaimed music of Worn Down Shoe, hailing from Dungannon.

There is limited free parking on site and number of city centre car parks just a few minutes’ walk away. For more information contact Armagh City & District Council on 028 3752 9600 or www.armagh.gov.uk
