The Return of The 4 of Us

August 25, 2014

25 Years after it all began, Newry’s favourite sons of rock ‘The 4 of Us’ celebrate their anniversary with a concert in Newry Town Hall on Saturday the 13th. Members of the current band and the original line-up will all be on the Town Hall Stage. This will be the third and final time all the members of both the original and current line-ups will play together. Don’t miss it.

Brendan Murphy, original member, waxes lyrical about his memories of the iconic Newry Venue: “Newry Town Hall. My mother and father danced there before I was born. I sang to my first audience at the Feis there as a young boy in 1973. I saw a great new Irish band called U2 play there in 1980, and I got to stand on that same stage and perform nine years later, after the release of our first album, Songs for the Tempted. 25 years later it will be an honour to go back with the original members of ‘The 4 of Us’ to play there one more time.”

Reflecting on the significance of the gig in his hometown, and on the same stage which meant so much to them in the earlier days, Brendan added: “it was a thrill to perform with the original members of ‘The 4 Of Us’ in Belfast and Dublin earlier this year but the final 25th Anniversary show in Newry Town Hall is the highlight for us. It will be one big party.”

Tickets for ‘The 4 of Us’ are priced £17.00 and are available from The Sean Hollywood Arts Centre.  The box office number is 028 3031 3180. Tickets are also available from
