Ex-Westlife heart-throb to headline Armagh Halloween concert

October 6, 2014

Former Westlife star, I’m a Celebrity King of the Jungle and mentor of The Voice of Ireland, Kian Egan is to headline a Halloween concert in Armagh City on Monday 27th October.

The concert takes place in the Shambles Yard from 6pm, and will feature the popular Irish singer, supported by local band The Hair O The Dawg and special guests The Whistlin Donkeys, Ireland’s favorite Traditional rock band.

The former Westlife crooner returns to his first love of music and performing hot on the heels of signing a record deal with Warner Music UK with whom he has just released his debut solo album.

The Halloween event builds on last year’s concert success and has once again employed the talents of the Good Relations team along with Armagh City and District Council, who have been instrumental in bringing such a high profile event to the city.

The Youth Peer Leaders and adult members of the Armagh Community Connectors Forum have been working tirelessly over the last month to make the Halloween concert a success.

Avril McLoughlin, who is one of the young people behind the development of the concert is keen to further develop last year’s success.

“We were overwhelmed with the great turnout last year and the feedback from everyone was that it was a really good night,” said Avril.

“This year we have challenged ourselves to try and make the concert bigger and better and we have also come up with some new ideas to help get the wider community involved.

“We have linked up with QRadio who will have their Q MeggaBlaster broadcasting live from the Shambles on the evening of the concert and will also being doing a number of live interviews with Kian Egan and ticket giveaways in the build up to the event.

“In addition to the concert on the night, this year there will also be a number of information stalls available within the Shambles Yard for local organisations working within the community to highlight their work and engage with people that they might not normally do so.”

Lord Mayor Cathy Rafferty said, “It is great that such a worldwide act as former Westlife Star Kian Egan has been confirmed to play in Armagh where local people have the opportunity to come together and attend a really fantastic concert for just £5 per person.  I hope that everyone will have the chance to come along on the night.”

The concert will finish at 9.30pm with a fireworks display.

Tickets priced at £5 are on sale now at www.armagh.co.uk/halloweenconcert or from the Armagh Visitor Information Centre.  To avoid disappointment patrons are advised to secure tickets early as there are a limited number of tickets available.
