Newry and Mourne Youth Work Strategy Partnership celebrated its ten year

October 20, 2014

On Thursday 16th October 2014, the Newry and Mourne Youth Work Strategy Partnership celebrated its ten year anniversary in Bellini’s, Newry. This multi-agency partnership is made up of representatives from a range of organisations which work with young people across Newry and Mourne. These organisations include Newry and Mourne District Council, Youth Action Nl, React, Southern Health and Social Care Trust and Barnardo’s.

At the event, the partnership launched its Youth Plan 2014-16. This plan is based on the feedback provided by young people and includes a Youth Work Charter which sets out the expected standards of behaviours and competencies for youth workers, as well as an Action Plan which sets out the five community youth work areas. These areas are:

Young people have improved health and well-being

Young people have more spaces to meet and develop their interests

Young people value difference

Young people have increased leadership and participation

Young people have improved employment and training.

The Youth Plan clearly demonstrates the commitment of public and community sector organisations to support young people in meeting their full potential, encourage leadership at all levels and promote the positive contribution they make to the quality of life across the Newry and Mourne District.

Attendees at the event will include MP’s, MLA’s, District Councillors and representatives from public and community sector organisations.
