November 3, 2014

A man arrested in connection with a bomb attack on Newry courthouse more than four years ago has been granted bail by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin.

Darren Weldon (43), with an address at Drinadaly, Trim, Co. Meath, had been charged with IRA membership following his arrest in Dublin on Tuesday last as part of an investigation into the attack on Newry courthouse in February 2010.

There was no objection to the bail application and Weldon is required to sign on daily at a local Garda station, surrender his passport and provide his mobile phone number to Gardaí.

The court heard that the book of evidence will be served at a later date.
