Ireland v France Elites: Quinn outboxes French champion

December 1, 2014

Representing Ireland, young Belleek boxer, Fearghus Quinn, celebrated success on Friday last with a memorable win over French middleweight number one Bengoro Bamba in the National Stadium, Dublin.

This is a huge triumph for the Camlough ABC boxer and represents a significant step in an increasingly illustrious career.

The win is made all the more satisfying as Fearghus had just two days to prepare for the contest, his first at senior boxing level, his coach Martin McCusker revealed.

Having been contacted by Billy Walsh from the High Performance Unit in Dublin, Fearghus had no hesitation in accepting the fantastic opportunity to compete alongside well-known boxing greats: Paddy Barnes, Adam Nolan and Darren O’Neill.

Praising Fearghus’s latest success, his coach Martin said: “He had a great fight and was toe-to-toe against the French champion.  To come away with a 3-0 win on such a prestigious bill was outstanding and a great honour for himself and the club.”
