Christmas comes early for mystery Lotto winner

December 22, 2014

It is set to be a magical Christmas for one lucky person from the Newry area, having scooped almost £1.8million in the Lotto.

The winning ticket was from the November 29th draw for the massive £1,796,081 jackpot and the numbers drawn were 6, 11, 18, 19, 38, 42 and bonus ball was 17.

With the prize having gone unclaimed, the National Lottery launched a public appeal last week and urged people in the Newry and Mourne area to check their tickets in a bid to unite the winning ticket holder with their prize before Christmas.

The appeal was successful as the winner finally came forward on Thursday to claim the prize.  So far, the mystery winner has chosen to remain anonymous.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward, especially just before Christmas, and we hope that they will enjoy their win. It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-changing amount of money.”

The lucky winner can now look forward to a prosperous New Year having received the ultimate Christmas present!
