Police recover suspected getaway car

A car believed to have been used by a three-man gang suspected of being involved in a string of burglaries in Armagh, Castleblayney and an attempted robbery in Newry has been recovered by police.

The silver 3 series BMW was recovered  in Derrybeg on Monday last and the PSNI have issued an appeal for anyone who observed the car in the days before it was abandoned to contact them.

Police say the vehicle had been fitted with a series of false number plates bearing the registrations TJZ 6053, TFZ1025 –  the original registration number is believed to be 07 D 30244

Around 5.25pm on Saturday evening (31st January),  the gang travelling in the car were disturbed while attempting to break into a house in Ashgrove Avenue, Newry.

The car was also seen escaping the scene of an attempted burglary on the Killylea Road, Armagh on the previous afternoon.

Police say the suspects have Southern accents and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them quoting reference number 921 02/02/15
