St. Peter’s Primary School Celebrate 50 Great Years

February 16, 2015

2015 will mark a very important milestone in the history of St. Peter’s Primary School, Cloughreagh. This year the school will celebrate 50 years of educational provision at its Cloughreagh site.

Opening its doors in August 1965, the school has undergone many changes, but one constant throughout all those years has been the deep-rooted school ethos of fostering, supporting and nurturing strong family and community links, a philosophy that has been embraced by many dedicated staff and management down through the years.

In anticipation of a busy yearlong programme of events and activities, and to mark this momentous occasion, the school is delighted to announce the launch of its newly designed website and social media page. It is the school’s hope that the website and social media drive will help inform and promote the on-going work within the school, and  in this special fiftieth year, publicise and encourage community involvement in the commemorative activities and events planned throughout the year.

Speaking about the website launch and the year ahead, John Campbell, St. Peter’s Principal said,

‘2015 is going to be an extremely special year here at St. Peter’s and we want the local community to share and participate in this celebration with us. We have a very  exciting year of activities planned which we are confident will reflect our strong community links, acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all those who have contributed to the school over the past fifty years and to thank the local community for their continued support. We owe a great debt of gratitude to all those who helped with the design of the website; Kevin Moan creator of ‘Design By Kevin’, Martin Mc Ginn, Lecturer in Design at Belfast School of Architecture,  Dáithí Murray, Director of ICT at St. Paul’s Bessbrook, Chynel McCrink ICT Coordinator at St. Peter’s  and Jerome Burns, Deputy Director at The Department of Regional Development. The school would encourage everyone to get familiar with the website and social media pages, keep up to date with what’s going on and participate in all the wonderful activities throughout the year.’
