Gaelic Life 2015 Club All-Stars Awards

THE Gaelic Life Ulster Club All-stars event in its fifth year brought together all 90 players that were nominated for the football and hurling team of the year selections, as well as the individual category nominees to the Hillgrove Hotel in Monaghan.

The awards night proved to be a terrific night for Ulster Senior football champions Crossmaglen Rangers who scooped 6 All-Star awards and more importantly captured the two prestigious singular awards as Johnny Hanratty was selected as Player of the Year and Aidan Rushe was named Young Player of the Year.

Joining Johnny and Aidan on the All-Stars team were team mates Paul Hughes, James Morgan and the Kernan brothers Aaron and Tony. Cross was the best represented club on the team with beaten Ulster finalists Scotstown gaining 3 awards. Intermediate champions Loughinisland from Down also picked up 3 awards  as Jonny Flynn, Dan Gordon and Conor Megoran getting honored with the team they beat in the Ulster final Realt Na Mara, Bundoran being represented by Christy Keaney. Ulster Junior champions Rockorry provided goalkeeper Jamie Smith and corner back Niall McKeown.

The full team is Jamie Smith (Rockcorry), Niall McKeown (Rockcorry), Aidan Rushe (Crossmaglen Rangers), Paul Hughes (Crossmaglen Rangers), Jonny Flynn (Loughinisland), James Morgan (Crossmaglen Rangers), Aaron Kernan (Crossmaglen Rangers), Johnny Hanratty (Crossmaglen Rangers), Dan Gordon (Loughinisland), Tony Kernan (Crossmaglen Rangers), Orin Heaphey (Scotstown), Donal Morgan (Scotstown), Christy Keaney (Realt Na Mara, Bundoran), Darren Hughes (Scotstown), Conor Megoran (Loughinisland).

Slaughtneil retained their Club of the Year award on a night where the awards ceremony grew from humble beginnings of just 50 in attendance to over 400 patrons in the Hillgrove.

AIB Senior Club Championship

TG4 to cover semi-finals

Both Senior semi-finals of the AIB Club Championship, which will be held on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 will be covered live by TG4. The semi-finals which have an extra-time proviso in the event of a draw will take place at Portlaoise and Kingspan Breffni Park.

The venues and times are as follows with the referees to be announced at a later date.
