All-Ireland Finalists – Lislea Dramatic Players present ‘The Prisoner of Second Avenue’ by Neil Simon

February 15, 2016

Lislea Dramatic Players will perform the Neil Simon classic “The Prisoner of Second Avenue” on Saturday 20th February, in the Old School House Theatre, Lislea, giving patrons a chance to see them perform before they take the production on the All-Ireland Amateur Drama Festival Circuit.

This touching story revolves around the escalating problems of middle-aged New Yorkers Mel and Edna. Having just lost his job and enduring an intense summer heat wave, Mel struggles to deal with a prolonged garbage strike, noisy neighbours, and the daylight robbery of their apartment. He eventually suffers a nervous breakdown, but it’s the loving care of Edna and his family that helps bring him back to a firm reality. Prepare to laugh and then shed a tear.

The show will begin at 8pm and patrons are asked to come early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are available at the door priced at £7 and all proceeds will go to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
