Tí Chulainn to host the Finnegan McSherry Quartet

June 20, 2016

Having been friends since childhood, John McSherry and Brian Finnegan, two of the most unique and progressive voices in Irish music, have decided to join forces to create the Finnegan McSherry Band and will appear in the Ti Chulainn Centre, Mullaghbawn this Friday 24th June.

Finnegan has been frontman with the dazzling group ‘Flook’ for more than twenty years having toured the world and recorded three highly acclaimed studio albums with the band which was crowned ‘BBC Band Of The Year’ in 2006.

McSherry, hailed as one of the finest exponents of the art of uilleann piping in the world, is a founding member of the band Lunasa, on whose first two albums he recorded and from whom he left to join Donal Lunny’s super group Coolfin.  He has also worked numerous international artists including Nancy Griffith, The Corrs, Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp and Sinead O’Connor.

In 2010 Brian and John both released highly acclaimed solo albums ‘The Ravishing Genius Of Bones’ and ‘Soma’ respectively. Since then they have been responsible with pushing the boundaries of Irish music even further with their ground breaking bands ‘Kan’ and ‘The Olllam’. At their upcoming concert in Ti Chulainn, the Finnegan McSherry Band will be joined on stage by world class musicians John Joe Kelly on bodhran and Ed Boyd on guitar.

Doors open at 8pm and admission is £12.  Tickets are available at the Tí Chulainn Centre, contact reception on 02830888828 or email
