Hospice Wild Atlantic Way Walk

July 25, 2016

For anyone looking to take in some magnificent scenery and raise funds for a very deserving cause, the Southern Area Hospice Wild Atlantic Way Walk could be ideal. The walk along the breathtakingly beautiful Horn Head route in Co. Donegal takes place on Saturday 8th October. Walkers will travel by coach from Southern Area Hospice to Dunfanaghy.  The guided walk will take approximately 4-5 hours and cover 10kms of the striking landscapes of the Wild Atlantic Way and views of the Muckish to Errigal Mountain Ranges and the panoramic vista of Tory Island, Fanad Head and the Rossguill Peninsula.

Hospice PR & Events Officer Grainne Mulgrew explains “This year’s walk is spectacular, the scenery is amazing and the walk offers something for all ages and levels of fitness…having recently completed the route with some of the guides from Swilly Hiking Club, it is one of the most beautiful walks on offer!  And as always there will be plenty of craic along the way with the group, so I would encourage people to sign up as soon as possible as places will be allocated on a first come basis.”

The Autumn Walk Package includes coach travel from Newry to Dunfanaghy, a guided walk around the Horn Head and an overnight stay in the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny with Dinner, Bed and Breakfast in the Hotel and a night’s post-walk relaxation with fellow walkers, travelling home on Sunday.

Last year’s Autumn Walk to Rathlin Island was a great success raising over £6,000 for Southern Area Hospice.  This year the Hospice must fundraise £2.42 million in order to continue providing valuable services to patients and families living in the Southern Health Board area.

To register, participants are asked to pay a non-refundable deposit of £50 to secure a place and raise a minimum sponsorship of £225 which covers dinner, bed & breakfast and transport.  Sponsor cards are available on registration.  Please note that places are limited!  If you would like more information or to register please contact Grainne on 028 3025 1333 or email mulgrewg@southernareahospiceservices.org
