Kerry’s back with a bang with launch of new single

August 1, 2016

South Armagh’s pocket rocket Kerry Fearon, has followed her success as a finalist on TG4 country music competition Glor Tire, by launching a brand new single.

‘Bing Bang Boom’, which was originally a hit for American country band Highway 101, has been given a decidedly rock’n’roll feel by Kerry, who has included the track on her forthcoming album.

The single was produced by Wayne Golden who is on guitars and bass, with Scott Newstead on keys who also mixed and mastered the track. Clive Culbertson provided backing vocals and Al McQuilkin features on steel guitar.

The local songstress has enjoyed a whirlwind 18 months on the country music scene establishing herself as one of Ireland’s hottest new country stars with a raft of high profile gigs under her belt and a EP of four singles. Since launching her career at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast as the support act to Mary Duff and Dominic Kirwan in March 2015, Kerry has certainly been kept busy, performing with different bands all around the country and sharing the stage with some of Ireland’s top country music acts. According to Kerry, a huge highlight was opening up for Marty Haggard (son of the late Merle) in May of this year. With more exciting gigs lined up in Ireland and the UK, the country singer also presents the ‘Home-grown hour’ on Downtown Country and Ireland’s Hot 7 chart which goes out on Downtown Country and Downtown Radio every Sunday night.

Speaking to The Examiner about the release of her new single, Kerry recalled her recent success on Glór Tíre, describing it as a “tremendous experience” to reach the final. Kerry is still appearing at some of her Glor Tire mentor John McNicholl’s gigs and will be performing at his dancing weekend in the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny this November.

She also revealed that she has a number of projects in the pipeline, including a possible TV presenting gig and shooting the video for “Bing Bang Boom.”

For maximum airplay, the local singing sensation needs listeners to request her new single so is counting on the support of her south Armagh fans and beyond to boost radio play.
