Armagh Championship

August 29, 2016

Big fish avoid champions Cross

Fresh from their surprise win over Granemore Tir na nOg have been rewarded with a game against the champions Cross. All the other 6 teams will be glad at having avoided Rangers but will need to mind their steps as they pair off against each other.  St Pat’s big winners over the Og’s have been pitted against a lively Sarsfields outfit that saw off Forkhill last time out. Maghery many peoples fancy face a Wolfe Tones side that was involved in a high scoring cracker with Grange. The ‘Nab will not be phased by getting Clann Eireann who beat Madden in the last round especially following their great derby win over the Harps.

The last chance qualifiers will be very interesting following some of the first round performances. Harps will have to overcome Grange to get back in championship tune. Forkhill have a tough nut to crack in Granemore. Youthful Dromintee will get a chance to express themselves against a footballing Annaghmore. Can the Og’s recover to put it up to Madden to stay in the championship.

There have been some tasty ties thrown up in both round two and the qualifiers in the Intermediate championship. St Paul’s, fresh after their shock win over Culloville take on Carrickcruppen who safely negotiated the An Port Mor first round hurdle. Culloville, after their shock defeat will not be taking anyone else for granted as they face Thomas Davis on the first step to redemption. Shane O’Neill’s have been given a toughie in St Peter’s.
