New arrangement on south Armagh parishes announced
April 28, 2009
Cardinal Sean Brady has announced the latest arrangements on the amalgamation of parishes in the Archdiocese in the new pastoral initiative, including the parishes of south Armagh.
The initial pastoral amalgamation involving south Armagh hasĀ been changed so that Crossmaglen, Cullyhanna and Whitecross is now a proposed unity; Dromintee, Forkhill / Mullaghbawn and Faughart; and Cloghogue, Bessbrook and Middle Killeavy.
In a letter to all the churches, Cardinal Brady thanked all those involved in theĀ discussions over the past year who had given their views and all the facilitators, and said that the new proposals as detailed will be the final position, unless there are some late and serious objections. These should be given to the local parish priest who will then forward them to Ara Ceoli in Armagh.
May 28th is the deadline for any last objections and the final map will be published in June.
Throughout the Archdiocese traditional parishes are being brought together. Armagh parish, for example, is being joined with Keady / Derrynoose and Ballymacnab.
