Hundreds of jobs returned to Newry call centre

July 21, 2009

The Newry based teleperformance call centre has secured a large contract from the Swine flu helpline. It means that all those who had previously been laid off by the loss of Setanta and Eflow’s contracts have now been offered their jobs back.

Sinn Féin MP for Newry/Armagh Conor Murphy welcomed the announcement saying it was fantastic news for the hundreds of employees who had lost their jobs at the Teleperformance call centre.

“I have also been made aware that the company may begin advertising additional vacancies which is again good news for the area. The experience and skills of those employed in the centre has been recognised and has led to this contract being secured.”

The staff were informed of the new contract during a series of meetings in Newry on Friday last.
