‘Honky Tonk Girl’ Kerry releases new single

April 16, 2018

Local country singing star Kerry Fearon has released another new single from her forthcoming debut album of country classics and covers, “Honky Tonk Girl”.  The latest offering from Dromintee’s “pocket rocket”,  who has been enjoying huge success since her introduction to the country music scene just three years ago,  is a track entitled ‘If the devil don’t want me’.

Kerry’s version of the Ashley Monroe track was arranged and produced by Clive Culbertson at No Sweat Studios in Coleraine. It follows the previous singles from the album; Storms never last,  Red river valley ft. Jordan Mogey, Cotton Jenny and Luxury Liner.

Opening for Dominic Kirwan and Mary Duff at the Waterfront in Belfast in March 2015, proved to be Kerry’s big break, leading to her recording her debut single “What Would Dolly Do?” with Dominic’s then Musical Director, Wane Golden.

This led to more gigs and in November 2015 Kerry was invited by singer John McNicholl to appear on the Irish country singing competition Glór Tíre on TG4.  Kerry sailed through to the live finals of the competition and since then has played major concerts across Ireland appearing with country stars Susan McCann, Marty Haggard, Will Bannister, Joni Harms, Ron & Leona Williams and Max T. Barnes. She regularly performs with the multi-award-winning Tony Kerr and the Workin’ Men and is a regular performer at the monthly Hooley in the Old Coach Inn, Castleblayney.

The in-demand singer is finding life busy at the moment juggling a full time special needs teaching post with studying for a UU Diploma in Irish Language, all whilst  presenting her radio programme every weeknight on Downtown Country and presenting her very own TV show “Kerry’s Gold Country” on Keep It Country TV.

Still buzzing after a recent trip to Nashville and, with work continuing on the completion of her first album, Kerry says she feels the forthcoming debut compilation is a great introduction before she branches out into her own original music.

Another busy year of gigs and festivals lies ahead for the south Armagh star and fans can catch her performances at the Balmoral Show on May 19th, Towerfest Yorkshire on June 16th, Millport Country Music Festival on the Isle of Cumbrae on September 9th  as well as the Embo Country Music Festival, Scotland 9-11th November.

Kerry is also looking forward to featuring on the Hot Country Awards at the Slieve Russell hotel Co. Cavan on May 1st.
