Gang plunder local tyre sales yard in hour long raid

November 12, 2018

The owner of a local tyre sales firm has appealed for the public to beware of  individuals making suspicious attempts to sell tyres or seeking new tyres fitted, after his Silverbridge business yard was looted in the early hours of Tuesday last (6th November).

Brian Carragher, proprietor of Carragher Tyre Sales in Silverbridge, shared CCTV footage of the hour long raid on social media which captured a gang of hooded men casually walking around the residential and business yard stealing tyres. The raiders seemed unperturbed by the security lighting which flooded the yard or the cameras in view.

Mr Carragher said the burglary was “well-organised”, with the thieves entering the premises on foot though neighbouring fields.  The business owner revealed that when the gang had finished plundering the outside yard, they removed a window to access a shed to steal further tyre stock, making off with a substantial amount of tyres.

Police have appealed to anyone who noticed suspicious activity or vehicles parked on the New Road in Silverbridge on Monday night, 5th November or within the early hours of Tuesday morning 6th November to contact them on 101.
