Bite ‘n’ Banter reaches out to lonely and in need on Christmas Day

December 22, 2018

This Christmas Day the annual Bite ’n’ Banter event in Newry will once again reach out to the lonely and in need.  Now in it’s fifth year, the Christmas Dinner will be held at the Gateway Club in Kilmorey Street from 1pm to 5pm.

The day is totally anonymous and free and organisers rely solely on the generosity of businesses and individuals in the local community for donations of food, gifts and services.  The core aim of the event is to provide a place for anyone, young or old, alone or otherwise who would like to enjoy some food, entertainment and chat on Christmas Day.

Organisers ask anyone wishing to make a food donation to the event to please bring a cooked plated dinner wrapped in cling film or foil (without gravy) which will be gratefully accepted at the club from 12 noon until 3pm.

Anyone wishing to join them and enjoy a home cooked Christmas dinner and some company is warmly invited to drop into the Gateway Club from 1pm or call the enquiry line on 07783 671217.

Further information can be found on the Bit’n’Banter for Christmas Facebook page or by contacting 07783 671217.

If you are interested in volunteering your services for the day please contact them on their dedicated volunteer line on 07936 300235.

The committee would again like to thank the local community for their goodwill and generosity in previous years and look forward to continued support this Christmas.
