Donegal not as daunting

February 25, 2019

 ● Allianz National league Division 2 – Donegal v armagh Saturday 2nd March at 7.15pm in Ballybofey

Now with a win under their belts and pre competition favourites for promotion after suffering consecutive defeats next Saturday nights trip to Balybofey seems a lot less daunting than it did a week ago.

The fact that Fermanagh were able to go to Letterkenny and overturn a 5 point deficit and outscore their 14 man hosts 9-2 in the second half gives value to the optimism for the Armagh travelling support. The Ballybofey match has a 7-15 start and can be seen by those unable to travel live on eir sport 2.

Kildare won at home to Clare, Meath Top the Table on scoring averages from Fermanagh both with 6 points after beating bottom of the table Cork. Kildare have 5 points one more than Armagh and Donegal who both have 4 with the Orchard boys above Saturdays opponents on scoring averages. Tipperary who along with Clare sit on 3 points but are in the relegation spot with Cork because of the scoring differential. Week 5 fixtures sees a clash of the current bottom two teams as Tipp host Cork also on Saturday night whilst on Sunday Fermanagh welcome Clare with Leinster rivals Meath and Kildare in action at Navan.

Armagh manager Kieran McGeeney will be delighted that his side have found that winning touch especialy as his bench options are strengthening as injured players return to the fold. A second league win in Ballybofey will put Armagh right in the promotion frame with two home games remaining with Fermanagh and Cork
