Growing together in a place of healing

President of Ireland Michael D Higgins is set to visit An Tobar Community Wellness Centre and Social Farm, located at Finnegan’s Nursery and Garden Centre in Silverbridge, this Thursday March 7th at 4.00pm.

President Higgins will meet with participants currently attending programmes offered at the centre – a social enterprise established in April 2018 by Kathleen and Margaret Finnegan as a branch of their family business, offering community services for people of all ages and abilities.  Through programmes of community health and wellbeing, mindfulness, social and therapeutic horticulture and social farming, their aim is to provide an inclusive, safe sanctuary for healing our community.

Among those who will meet the president will be residents from Dealgan House Dundalk and Glencarron Nursing Home, Crossmaglen, as well as pupils from St. Joseph’s High School in Crossmaglen.

President Higgins will plant the first native sapling for Brian’s Woodland Project at the centre’s Celtic Circle Garden while instrumental music and songs of the area will be performed by Bernie Muckian, Colleen Savage and Blaithin McCann.

Sincere appreciation is extended to President Higgins for including south Armagh and An Tobar in his busy schedule.
