Brexit opposition group to unveil new anti-Brexit declaration at Stormont

March 4, 2019

The Border Communities Against Brexit (BCAB) group will travel to Parliament Buildings at Stormont today (Monday 4th March) to launch a new declaration and announce a series of impending protests along the border.

A BCAB spokesperson said the group are calling on all Unions, representative groups, civic leaders and citizens to join them “in demonstrating our anger at being taken out of the EU.”

“We have also decided to create a Declaration that all Pro-Remain and campaign groups could sign up to so we all can send a very clear message to Westminster, Dublin and Brussels regarding the effects of Brexit upon our lives,” added the spokesperson.

“It is vitally important at this very crucial time our collective voices are heard.”

The Declaration, which will be unveiled along with a new distinctive poster, demands: No Hardening of the border by Implementing the “Backstop”; the preservation of the Good Friday Agreement; continued EU representation to ensure protection and standards for citizens’ rights, employment, environmental and social rights and continued access to EU funding programmes including PEACE, CAP, Erasmus+ and Interreg.

A series of protests will also take place along the border on March 30th at 3pm.
