DoH announces Newry public meeting on breast assessment services

July 1, 2019

Newry is to be added as a location for a public consultation meeting on the review of breast assessment services across the north.

The move follows the announcement by the Department of Health that the consultation period on breast assessment and stroke services is to be extended until August 2nd.

The MP for Newry and Armagh, Mickey Brady, who has previously called for Newry to be added as a meeting location, has welcomed the move.

He said: “I welcome the decision from the Department of Health to add an extra date to its series of public meetings on the future of breast and stroke services.  I had previously raised concerns that the initial list of public consultation meetings on the future of breast services did not include a meeting in Newry.  I called on the Department of Health to review this decision and add a public meeting in Newry, given the level of concerns about the future of breast services locally.”

The meeting will take place in the Canal Court Hotel on Tuesday 23rd July from 7-9pm.

Mr Brady is encouraging anyone concerned about the future of breast assessment services local to attend “and make their voices heard”.
