Following outstanding success in his chosen sport, a young Culloville swimmer has been selected for Team Ulster in the Special Olympics National Games.
Last year eleven-year-old Fergal Gregory won a gold medal at the Ulster Games in Letterkenny. It was as result of this success that he was chosen to represent Ulster in the National Games, which are to be held in Limerick in June.
Fergal is a Primary 6 pupil in Cloughoge Primary School and trains four times a week with the ‘Dippers and Divers’ group in Newry.
His parents, Kevin and Aine, and his grandmother Pauline Byrne from Newtowncloughoge are extremely proud of his achievements and look forward to seeing him participating with the rest of Special Olympics representatives from the Newry and Mourne area.

Fundraising launch
Fergal was part of a group of Special Olympic athletes who met Mayor John Feehan in the Council offices at the launch of their Fundraising Campaign on Thursday.
In June a large delegation of competitors from groups such as Newry Gateway Footballers, City Strikers Bowling Club, Newry United Football Club and Dippers and Divers Swimming Club will represent Newry and Mourne in the National Games in Limerick.
To help finance the costs involved, which are expected to be in the region of £20,000, a major fundraising campaign has been launched. Organisers will greatly appreciate any donations and offers of assistance. For more information contact Mrs Esther King on 077306 10784.
