Cyclist injured in early morning collision

A cyclist was taken to Daisy Hill hospital with serious injuries following an early morning collision in Newry on Thursday.

The man, who is in his 50s, was cycling along Monaghan Row when he collided with a lorry around 7.45am.

The injured cyclist has been described as being in a ‘serious condition’.

Following the accident, police arrested a man in his 60s.  He was subsequently released pending further enquiries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident to contact them.
