Local group; Creggan Church of Ireland Hall Management Committee have extended their appreciation to the Southern Health and Social Care Trust and its’ delivery agents; Community Development and Health Network for the £3,000 funding award granted to them, through the ‘Promotion of Positive and Mental Health small grant scheme.’
Speaking on behalf of the group, its’ Secretary Kenny Donaldson said: “Since September 2009, our group has been able to deliver a wide array of activities/services for the betterment of the local community as a consequence of the SHSCT funding.
“The monies have enabled us to run a sign language course (BSL 101) of which there were 15 participants, a painting course involving 13 participants and creative writing sessions. We were also able to bring Action Cancer’s Big Bus service to Creggan whereby 44 local people availed of its’ excellent onsite services. We were also given funding towards bus transport for the recently formed Creggan Walkers and Talkers group, which enabled them to visit and walk within Kilbroney Forest Park, Rostrevor and Clare Glen, Tandragee.
“We would like to thank CDHN and their staff for the support they have given us throughout the delivery of the Project and we also say a big thank-you to the tutors, facilitators, the participants and also your paper for aiding us to publicize the many events funded through the grant award,” concluded Kenny.
