During an investigation into organised car theft, police uncovered dozens of stolen vehicles in planned searches of premises in Dorsey, near Cullyhanna on Wednesday.

In an operation which lasted most of the day, officers swooped on two premises on the Carrickrovaddy Road.  These searches were a follow-up to a previous one on Finnegan’s Road in the area last November.

In total, 34 stolen vehicles were recovered, many of which had been disassembled.  It’s believed at least thirteen of the vehicles were stolen during ‘creeper burglaries’ across the North and in the Republic.

Police said the searches were part of an ongoing investigation and removed the vehicles for further examination

A man arrested during the operation was released on bail pending further inquiries.
