Two police officers were injured when they were struck by a car which failed to stop at a checkpoint near Culloville early on Sunday morning.

Despite being signalled to stop, the car, which police say was being driven in ‘a dangerous manner’ continued through the checkpoint, striking the two officers.  It then crashed into a police vehicle.

The incident occurred on the Concession Road shortly after 3.00am and ambulances were called to the scene to ferry the injured police officers to hospital.  Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and, at the time of going to press, he was still being questioned.
