A Silverbridge family has been left counting the cost after heartless thieves targeted their home.
The thieves struck on Wednesday afternoon, breaking down the front door to gain entry. Moving from room to room, they stole valuable items including televisions, DVD players and other electrical goods. The culprits then used their vehicle to break into the adjacent garage, ramming the doors and causing extensive damage.
The owner says the burglary has had a traumatic effect on the whole family. Their young children are anxious and frightened, unable to sleep properly since. This, added to the inconvenience of carrying out repairs and replacing items, has compounded their distress.
“We thought we had done everything right,” the owner said. “We had everything locked up and had an alarm. It just proves that you can’t be too careful.
“We would just like to warn people to be vigilant regarding the security in their homes so that they can avoid experiencing the distress that we have.”
Police are investigating the robbery and have appealed for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the New Line area of Silverbridge during Wednesday March 24th to contact them.
